Welcome to my ‘About’ page!

My name’s Natasha and I’ve been a full-time private tutor for the past seven years. For me, tutoring is the absolute best job in the world; I love working one to one with students and helping them to achieve their full potential!

I’m passionate about my subjects, and equally enthusiastic about teaching a range of different people from all kinds of backgrounds. I work hard to make sure you’ll find our lessons fun, inspiring and infinitely valuable.

Many of my students each year surprise themselves and go from D to A or A* grades (Level 3 – L8/9 at GCSE) once given the right kind of guidance and direction, so we’ll never put a limit on your abilities and we’ll just work on improving your confidence level and grades as much as possible.

Each person learns best in his or her own way, so I tailor my lesson plans and even my teaching style to suit the needs of individual students. For example, if you’re great with knowing your subject but scared of exams, I will focus more on those and help you get over your worries. Equally, if you’ve fallen behind with classwork because of absence or lack of correct teaching, I can work on course content with you until you feel more confident. This allows us to maximise the productivity of the lesson and make sure we’re always focusing on something that will specifically benefit your particular situation.

I give 100% effort to all my classes to ensure you get the most out of your time with me. Our lessons will be intense but I’ll help you every step of the way; I’m very patient and a slow reader myself so I try to create an environment where instead of getting stuck or confused, every student feels supported, and then challenged!

In Person Tuition

I have tutored in person since 2012, and I currently tutor out of my home office in Walkley, Sheffield. I aim to create a relaxed environment where students can feel calm and productive, you’ll also have access to my mini library with lots of books to use as references and resources! I do have very friendly pets – you’re welcome to cuddle them during our sessions, but if you’re allergic or not used to animals I will make sure they are locked out of the office instead. My schedule is quite busy so I’m unable to travel beyond the local area to teach, but if travelling is difficult for you too then please consider online lessons or video courses (see below) as an alternative!

Online Tuition

I have worked with online tuition companies and online video platforms since 2012, in both the UK and abroad (China, Russia, Japan). I was also head of CHS, an online homeschool, from 2015-2017. I’m very comfortable teaching online and I use free, reliable systems such as Skype or Hangouts with students to make sure we can video and voice call effectively, as well as working with Google Drive to keep a record all our lessons and resources that you can revisit and edit at any time.

If you have specific learning needs, I’m happy to tailor my lessons to suit you. I also have dyslexia and struggled a lot with it when I was younger, it was one of the things that motivated me to work so hard on my English and Language skills! I hope to motivate and inspire you to overcome any difficulties and gain a real confidence in your subject and your own abilities.

Many of my regular students are either living abroad (I teach online), or have come to this country and need specific help with their English skills because it’s not their first language. If this is you, then I’m highly qualified to help! I achieved a Distinction grade in my TEFL 140hr intensive teacher training course, which included special modules in Academic and Business English. This helped me to understand how to tutor English to non native speakers in a constructive and efficient way. We’ll get you up to fluency level in no time at all!

Can’t afford regular tuition or need extra help with revision? I’m in the process of building an online school (Scrbbly), where I record my lessons and upload courses for English students who are studying at GCSE, A Level and University. These work on a full access subscription basis, so you can sign up for £18/month, watch whichever courses are useful for you and cancel any time you’re done.
